By. Ferry My impression about OGFICE Scholarship Program To get scholarship to learn Japanese in Japan is my dream since I start to learn Japanese at University. But, I couldn’t get that opportunity until I get my bachelor degree major in Japanese Literature. When I took my master degree, I try to get that opportunity again. Finally, I could get that opportunity through Osaka Gas Foundation Scholarship program. I don’t suspect it precisely, because I have to compete with my friend which younger than me. The program is a kind of cooperation program between Osaka Gas Foundation with Japanese Area Studies-University of Indonesia, through Japan Foundation. The goals of the programs are: using Japanese effectively; getting experience and understanding about Japan; and also look for good strategy for studying Japanese. The main activities in the programs are: learning everything about Japan through the lessons such as nihon rikai, interview and speech; exchange meeting; study trip; Japanese culture introduction; presentation and cultural festival. The program for me is very useful, especially in interview’s lesson, where we study how to do interview to Japanese people, beginning from preparation, determination of questionnaire, and execution; we also learn about Japanese people gesture in replying question. Because of my research need such kind of interview; I do my research pursuant to what I had learned during in Japan. So, I could face the difficulty on the research. Besides that, through that program, for the first time I had succeed to get my confidence to do presentation and speech in front of Japanese society. To see their enthusiasm in giving question according to theme which I discuss, indicating that they understand of what I discuss, though I feel my Japanese isn’t well enough. I also get opportunity to be able to do my hobby which I had leaved long time ago, which is to perform traditional dance in front of Japanese society. The OGFICE Scholarship program represents one of the forming of CSR conducted by Osaka Gas to Indonesia. I’m very proud that I could get the opportunity. I hope cooperation between Osaka Gas and KWJ-UI will take longer, so that more and more student will get the opportunity to be able to more understand about Japan. I’m very thankfully to KWJ-UI and OGFICE which have given the opportunity to me. Knowledge which I get through the program will very useful for me. By Kristiana In 20 October 2008 to 3 December 2008 I was received a scholarship to study in the Japan Fondation Japanese-Language Institute, Kansai Japan through the Japanese-Language Program For Indonesian University Students of the Osaka Gas Foundation of International Cultural Exchange (OGFICE). This program is an exposure to effectively use of our Japanese language that we have already learnt and to experience and understand Japanese culture and her peoples better through various activities. There are lot of things that takes place in the program like speech, Interviews, and presentations. Also we will be exposed to the Japanese culture during the program like the sado, Homestay etc. There also will be trips to other places in some Japan areas almost every week like Hiroshima, Kyoto, Tokyo, etc, and feedback program are conducted regarding the place of the visit. At the end of the program a final presentation has to be given to the public regarding your understanding of life in Japan. Overall I think this is a program which builds confidence to lead life in Japan independently.
