Japanese Area Studies program - University of Indonesia (KWJ UI) started in 1990. And the program has graduated 108 masters and 9 doctors until January 2009. Most of graduate (67%) are working as lecturers as well as having academic positions such as Rector, Dean, and Head of Studies Program in 22 Universities in Indonesia.

Meanwhile other 20 percent are working as government officers in Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Labour, Ministry of Commerce, and Ministry of Agriculture. The remaining is working in industry, not only in Japanese companies such as Mitsubishi Corp, PT. GS Battery Inc, and Matsushita Gobel, but also in other international company like PT. Nestle Indonesia.
